The following protocols are in place for our Home:

As required in the Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) Standard and the updated COVID-19 Guidance Document, masking in non-outbreak situations in LTC and Retirement Homes continues to be:

  • masks are recommended, but not required, in all areas of our Home for caregivers and visitors;
  • we are a 'mask-friendly' Home - you may wear a mask if you feel more comfortable doing so;
  • continue to self-screen for symptoms of COVID-19 and other illnesses before visiting - a self-assessment tool has been provided for use if you are unsure of how to self-screen https://www.ontario.ca/self-assessment/;
  • do not visit if you are sick or unwell;
  • if there is an outbreak or during Respiratory Illness Season, we may need to re-implement Universal Masking; and
  • please note all visitors must sign in and out at all entrances, thank you!

Guest Meals

We are pleased to announce that residents are now able to have guests share meals with them in the dining rooms again. Prior to the pandemic, residents could invite family and friends to have a meal together, but it had to be paused due to infection control practices and public health advice. We are now able to offer this service once again. The cost for the meals is as follows: Breakfast $10.00, Dinner $20.00, Supper $20.00.

Meal Reservation Process:

  1. Email
    • Residents or family members must email guestmealreservation@elliottcommunity.org to arrange a guest meal.
    • The email should include: resident's name, dining room location, meal time, number of guests, and any dietary restrictions or special accommodations.
  2. Kitchen Coordination
    • Guest meal reservation emails will be directed to the kitchen's designated iPad. Chefs will review the email each morning and record reservations on a dedicated calendar.
  3. Staff Responsibilities
    • Dietary Staff will check the reservation calendar before each shift to prepare for any upcoming guest meals. Dietary Staff will ensure the table is appropriately set for the resident and their guest(s).
  4. Advance Notice Requirements
    • Reservations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to allow sufficient preparation time. In extraordinary circumstances, same-day accommodations may be possible if staffing and resources permit.
  5. Seating Arrangements
    • Dining tables can accommodate up to four people, such as one resident with three guests or two residents with two guests. For groups larger than four, arrangements must be discussed in advance with Dietary Staff to ensure proper seating, food service, and staffing.
  6. Meal Tracking and Payment
    • Dietary Staff will record guest meals on a designated form available in the servery. Completed forms will be submitted to the Chef Manager at the end of each month.
  • Efforts will be made to accommodate dietary preferences and restrictions.
  • All procedures are subject to change based on Public Health guidelines or operational requirements.

Breathe Easy - We are a Smoke-Free Facility!

Thank you in advance for considering the health of our residents, staff, and families.  All forms of tobacco-related products are prohibited in all buildings and on our property.  This includes cigarettes, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff, cigarillos, water pipes, e-cigarettes, lighters, and matches.  Breathe easy in our buildings, and enjoy the fresh air as you relax in our lovely garden areas at the back of our property.
