Gift of Securities
You can make a difference in the lives of our residents and community while eliminating your capital gains tax. You can donate stocks directly to The Elliott Community rather than giving cash. The donor will receive a tax receipt based on the fair market value of the securities on the day The Elliott Community receives the money. The advantage of donating these assets in-kind under the new charitable tax rules is that you may not have to pay tax on any of the capital gains. A donor can also use the donation receipt to offset taxes payable on other sources of income or investments.

Leave a Legacy
You can support The Elliott Community by keeping us in mind during your estate and financial planning. The information below provides a brief overview of possible giving options. We encourage donors to always discuss plans with professional legal and financial counsel as they develop their financial and/or estate plans.
Leave a Gift in Your Will
You may make a bequest or gift through your estate by including a provision in your will or living trust, or by naming The Elliott Community as a beneficiary of a retirement plan or life insurance policy. The amount left to The Elliott Community can be expressed as a dollar amount or as a percentage of the assets to be given. A bequest gift will create a legacy that celebrates your life, your family, or the life of a loved one that you wish to honour; while at the same time leaving a significant and lasting impact on the lives of others.
Gifts of RRSP or RRIF Plans
You can donate your Registered Retirement Savings Plans (RRSPs) and Registered Retired Income Funds (RRIFs) to the Elliott Community. RRSP or RRIF funds often include family members or other significant loved ones as beneficiaries. However, if you are confident that your family is provided for, including The Elliott Community in your RRSP or RRIF plan is a greatly appreciated donation.
In-kind gifts include assets such as new program equipment, indoor and outdoor furniture. These types of gifts enable The Elliott Community to focus on providing improved healthcare programs and services that directly benefit our residents. The fair market value of the gift is assessed by a third party qualified professional. The donor will receive a charitable income tax receipt for the appraised value of the asset.
Make a One-time Gift
Your gift today will help The Elliott Community renovate accessible spaces, modernize common areas and buy new program equipment. Your generosity makes a difference in the lives of the residents here at The Elliott Community when government funding is simply not enough.
Become a Monthly Donor
Know your monthly gift to The Elliott Community supports the purchase of needed equipment, and can help provide funding for specialized programs and other priority needs. Your monthly donation is a meaningful way to ensure The Elliott Community is able to continue our tradition of excellence in senior care within your community for future generations to come
You can upgrade your donation – or even cancel it – at any time just by contacting us. An annual tax receipt will be sent for your total year’s donation, making tax time easier too.
Give in Honour or in Memory
You can make a donation in honour of someone or celebrate a special occasion like a birthday, retirement, anniversary or other event. You can also make a donation in memory of a loved one who has passed. Giving in memory is a meaningful way of remembering someone special.
