By becoming a volunteer with The Elliott Community, you have the ability to share your talents and time with our residents. We recognize that we could not provide the same high calibre support and services for our residents, without the help of all of our volunteers.

Absolutely! We aim to match your interests and skills with the specific requirements of our departments.
What are the steps for becoming a volunteer?
To become a volunteer with The Elliott Community, You must fill out an application, submit 2 personal references attached to the application, attend a brief interview/tour, a brief one-hour orientation session, plus allow us to do a police record check including a vulnerable sector screening. Each volunteer must have a Tuberculin/Mantoux Skin Test (2 Step TB Test) prior to beginning to volunteer.
Are there age restrictions?
You must be at least 14 years old in order to volunteer with The Elliott Community. Volunteering with us is a wonderful opportunity for youth to obtain their Community Service Hours.
What paperwork do I need to complete before starting to volunteer?
We require each volunteer to complete an application form with 2 personal references, a police record check including a vulnerable sector screening, and a completed 2 Step TB Test record.
How long do I have to commit for?
It’s your choice. Your commitment to a particular volunteer position depends entirely upon your circumstances, interests, and the length of time you are available. We can offer you the chance to volunteer seasonally, or intermittently. We ask for a minimum of 1 hour of volunteering/week.
What would my volunteer schedule be like?
You can volunteer at any time of the week, day or evening. You can volunteer during evenings and weekends, too, depending on what you want to do.
Do I need experience working with seniors to volunteer?
This depends entirely on the opportunity. Some volunteer roles may require specific job skills or qualifications, while others ask only for a willingness to learn.
I work full-time. Am I still able to volunteer?
There are many volunteer opportunities that do not require you to be available during regular business hours.
What happens when I need to resign from volunteering?
Volunteers resigning from the Volunteer Program are asked to notify the Volunteer Coordinator and their direct supervisor with as much notice as possible. At the time of resignation, you are asked to return your name tag and FOB to the Volunteer Coordinator or reception desk.
