The Elliott Community is Guelph’s only long-term care home accredited in the highly-regarded Butterfly Approach – an innovative, person-centred model of care for older adults and people living with dementia. We’ve already transformed three of our long-term care home areas and we’re passionate about expanding this model further. We have committed to implementing the Butterfly Approach in the rest of our long-term care home over the next 18 months and achieving full accreditation by the end of 2026. When we reach this milestone, we will be one of the first long-term care homes in Canada to do so.
In order to support this important project, we are undertaking a major fundraising campaign – Transforming Together. We need to raise $250,000 to support our expansion of person-centred care and the Butterfly Approach across our long-term care population and beyond. Every dollar brings us closer to a fully accredited Butterfly Home for all. Each donation helps us change the future of care at the Elliott Community.
Through this campaign, we are raising funds for the following:
- Environmental enhancements
- Staff training central to the Butterfly Approach
- Engagement materials and emotional supports
- Consulting and accreditation costs
To make this change at The Elliott, we need your help. Your gift will help us to expand and sustain the life-changing Butterfly Approach throughout our home over the next few years and allow us to begin integrating the person-centred approach to care in our retirement home areas too. You can join us in building a better tomorrow for everyone we serve at the Elliott.

“The Butterfly Approach isn’t a renovation project, it’s a transformation in how we care for people. Your gift will continue to make an impact as new residents move in, new staff are trained, and new moments of joy unfold, day after day, year after year.”
There are several ways you can donate to our Transforming Together Campaign
