Volunteer Application (pdf)
On-line volunteer application form
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Elliott Community. Volunteers play an important part in helping us provide care and service that is sensitive, personalized and consistent with resident needs. We are committed to making sure our residents have the opportunity to live life to their fullest. We believe each resident is unique and should be treated with respect and consideration in a caring, home-like environment. We encourage residents to maintain as much independence as possible and support their fundamental right to self-determination.
Interview
An interview with our Volunteer Coordinator provides an opportunity to clarify volunteer roles, discuss job descriptions and outline volunteer responsibilities. The interview helps discover the volunteer opportunity that best meets the interests of the volunteer. A tour of the facility is also included.
Training
After submitting a completed volunteer form as well as having a successful reference check, police check and initial interview, a training session will be arranged. This session takes about an hour.
Confidentiality
We respect everyone’s privacy, especially our residents. Every volunteer must sign a confidentiality agreement that becomes a part of their file.
Volunteer meetings
Volunteer training sessions will be held throughout the year. These give our volunteers a chance to develop and update their training. There are many opportunities to learn new skills.
In addition, other volunteer events are held to network with other volunteers and to have fun.
Changing Positions
There are many different volunteer opportunities at the Elliott Community providing a broad range of experiences. Working with the Director of Recreation and Volunteer Services, volunteers can move between departments and positions. At any time, a meeting with the Director can be arranged to review positions, gain feedback and, perhaps, try something new.
For any volunteer questions, please contact Monica Bell, Director of Recreation and Volunteer Services, at 519 822-0491 ext 227 or by emailing mbell@elliottcommunity.org.
Details of all these volunteer opportunities can be found online at the Volunteer Centre of Guelph/Wellington by
