THE ELLIOTT COMMUNITY OPENS PUBLIC CAFÉ

GUELPH, ON, June 23 – Since first being built 105 years ago as the “Home for the Friendless,” the Elliott Community has undergone many changes. What hasn’t changed in over a century is its commitment to the people who call it “home.”

On Sunday, the Elliott opened its latest feature to enhance the lives of its residents – a modern café offering a wide variety of food and beverages. The café is located by the Elliott’s community centre and is open to the general public.

“While to some, a café might not seem to be that important,” says Trevor Lee, CEO, “To some of our less mobile members of our community, it offers an expanding of their lifestyle choices.”

Clare Rennie, the Chair of the Board of Directors echoed Trevor’s comment. “We know that the Elliott is a community within a community. As such, we offer services such as our hair salon and retail pharmacy that help bring some of the services found out in the larger community into a more convenient location.”

The Elliott Community is Guelph’s only not-for-profit organization to offer three lifestyle choices for seniors; independent living in its life lease suites, supported living in its retirement suites and full nursing care in its long-term care residence.
